Jelly Belly Factory Tour

If you like these sweet little nuggets of sugar go up to Fairfield, CA and see the Jelly Belly Factory. The tour is free, the samples are delicious and it is amazing.  We were able to see the candy made from start to finish including the packaging which is accomplished with a combination of robots and people.  Unfortunately, I could not take photos in the factory-they don't permit it.

Art created by the jelly beans is phenomenal.  Originally, when President Reagan was Governor of California he mentioned that they had the candy at every meeting passing around a huge jar of them.  His favorite flavor was licorice.  This tradition continued to the White House.  At one point when the President first mentioned he loved these candies, the factory was overwhelmed with orders and became behind in orders by 77 weeks!

Originally there were only ten flavors.  They have added gummy bears, candy corn and chocolate confections to their offerings to name just a few.  At the factory there is a wonderful store and I defy anyone to leave without purchasing something.  We bought some bags of "Belly Flops" which are packages of jelly beans that don't pass the exact size specifications.  They are delicious just the same.
